Healthier (And Cheaper) Starbucks Swap

I don’t know what I like more about making my own iced latte at home..saving $5 every time or saving 100 calories every time.

I started making these pick-me-ups in the afternoon with leftover coffee from that morning, and I’ve saved so much money by not going Starbucks anymore.

If you have coffee left in the pot (or cold brew coffee works great too!), make your own afternoon pick-me-up by pouring the leftovers in a cup and adding almond milk and ice! Bottled cold brew coffee is another option that typically sells for $4-8 per bottle and will make 8-10 drinks. Both are lower calorie and cheaper! Win-win.

Ingredients:

  • 6-8 ounces room temperature or cold coffee
  • 4 ounces almond or coconut milk
  • 1 packet Splenda or Stevia sweetener
  • Ice

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a large cup and enjoy!

Post-Workout Protein Latte

To me, all those “protein coffee” drinks taste whey weird. I learned this little trick from Egg Whites International. As long as you’re not weird about drinking egg whites (seriously, no reason to be. They’re perfectly safe and have the consistency of milk), this is a great alternative to whey shakes. I prefer this 10 out of 10 times to whey protein.

Ingredients:

  • 4 ounces room temperature or cold coffee
  • 8 ounces pure liquid egg whites
  • 1 packet Splenda or Stevia sweetener
  • Ice

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a large cup and enjoy!
